TENSES USING

1.      Simple Present Tense

Aktif          : S + V1/s/es

Pasif         : S + to be (is/am/are) + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan aktifitas sehari-hari (habitual actions)

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira cleans the room every morning.

Pasif          : The room is cleaned by Mira every morning.         

2.      Present Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + V2/ed

Pasif         : S + to be (is/am/are) + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang sedang dlakukan saat ini

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira is cleaning the room now.

Pasif          : The room is being cleaned by Mira now.

3.      Present Perfect Tense

Aktif          : S + Have/Has + V3/ed

Pasif         : S + Have/Has + been + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang telah sempurna dikerjakan tetapi hasil dari kegiatan tersebut masih dapat dirasakan dan dilihat

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira has clean the room this morning.

Pasif          : The room has been cleaned by Mira this morning.

4.      Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + Have/Has + been + Ving

Pasif         : S + Have/Has + been + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang dilakukan sejak beberapa waktu lalu dan hingga kini masih dikerjakan

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira has been cleaning the room since it was at 7 o’clock.

Pasif          : The room has been being cleaned by Mira since it was at 7 o’clock.

5.      Simple Past Tense

Aktif          : S + V2/ed

Pasif         : S + to be (was/were) + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang telah dilakukan dimasa lampau

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira cleaned the room yesterday.

Pasif          : The room was cleaned by Mira yesterday.

6.      Past Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + V2/ed

Pasif         : S + to be (was/were) + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang sedang dikerjakan ketika pekerjaan lain berlangsung dimasa lampau

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira was cleaning the room.

Pasif          : The room was being cleaned by Mira.

7.      Past Perfect Tense

Aktif          : S + Had+ V3/ed

Pasif         : S + Had+ been + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang telah terjadi sebelum pekerjaan lain terjadi dimasa lalu

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira had cleaned the room before she had breakfast.

Pasif          : The room had been cleaned by Mira before she had breakfast.

8.      Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + Had+ been + Ving

Pasif         : S + Had+ been + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang telah terjadi dan masih belangsung ketika waktu pembicaraan dimasa lalu

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira had been cleaning the room since it was at 7 o’clock.

Pasif          : The room had been being cleaned by Mira since it was at 7 o’clock.

9.      Simple Future Tense

Aktif          : S + will/shall + V1

Pasif         : S + will/shall + be + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang akan terjadi dimasa akan datang

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira will clean the room tomorrow.

Pasif          : The room will be cleaned by Mira tomorrow.

10.  Future Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + will/shall + be + Ving

Pasif         : S + will/shall + be + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang akan sedang terjadi dimasa akan datang diwaktu tertentu

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira will be cleaning the room tomorrow at 3 o’clock.

Pasif          : The room will be being cleaned by Mira tomorrow at 3 o’clock.

11.  Future Perfect Tense

Aktif          : S + will/shall + have + V3/ed

Pasif         : S + will/shall + have + been + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegatan yang akan telah terjadi pada waktu yang akan datang

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira will have cleaned the room.

Pasif          : The room will have been cleaned by Mira.

12.  Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + will/shall + have + been + Ving

Pasif         : S + will/shall + have + been + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan/aktifitas yang akan telah terjadi dan masih berlangsung pada waktu yang akan datang

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira will have been cleaning the room at  1 p.m.

Pasif          : The room will have been being cleaned by Mira at  1 p.m.

13.  Simple Past Tense

Aktif          : S + would/should + V1

Pasif         : S + would/should + be + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan/aktifitas yang akan terjasi pada masa yang lalu

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira would clean the room.

Pasif          : The room would be cleaned by Mira.

14.  Past Future Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + would/should + be + Ving

Pasif         : S + would/should + be + being + V3/ed

Menyatakan kegiatan/aktifitas yang akan sedang terjadi pada masa lampau

Aktif           : Mira would be cleaning the room.

Pasif          : The room would be being cleaned by Mira.

15.  Past Future Perfect Tense

Aktif          : S + would/should + have + V3/ed

Pasif         : S + would/should + have + been + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan/aktifitas yang akan telah terjadi pada waktu lampau

Aktif           : Mira would have cleaned the room in 2010.

Pasif          : The room would have been cleaned by Mira in 2010.

16.  Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Aktif          : S + would/should + have + been + Ving

Pasif         : S + would/should + have + been + being + V3/ed

·         Menyatakan kegiatan/aktifitas yang akan terjadi dan masih akan berlangsung pada masa lampau

Example    :

Aktif           : Mira would have been cleaning the room when  …… .

Pasif          : The room would have been being cleaned by Mira when  …….
